Professional Sprigging Services
An economical way to establish Bermuda and Zoysia grass over large acreage. Sprigging plants grass stolons directly into prepared soil — ideal for farms, golf courses, athletic fields, and large commercial properties.
What is Sprigging?
Sprigging is the process of planting grass stolons (sprigs) — small pieces of grass stems and roots — directly into prepared soil. Unlike laying full sod rolls, sprigging uses shredded plant material that spreads and fills in over time to create a complete turf stand.
This method is significantly more economical than sodding for large-acreage projects because the same amount of source material can cover a much larger area. Sprigs are harvested from our 1,200-acre farm and planted promptly for maximum viability.
Why Sprigging Saves Money
One acre of sod can produce enough sprigs to plant 5-10 acres, depending on the variety and sprigging rate. For projects over a few acres, the cost savings are substantial.

When to Use Sprigging vs. Sod
Both methods produce a beautiful, permanent lawn — the choice depends on your project size, budget, and timeline.
Choose Sprigging When:
- Project is 2+ acres (farms, golf courses, athletic fields)
- Budget is a primary concern
- You have 60-90 days for full establishment
- Site is irrigated or has reliable rainfall
- Bermuda or Zoysia is the desired grass type
Choose Sod When:
- You need an instant lawn (residential, commercial)
- Area is under 2 acres
- Erosion control is urgently needed
- Cool-season grass (Fescue) is desired
- Property is being sold or has high visibility
